The Great Taste® of Swaledale

Since 1994, the gold star ratings of the Great Taste® awards have become a recognised benchmark for food quality. Judged on texture, aroma, appearance and flavour, with no influence from branding or packaging, they remain a respected mark of good taste.

Over the years, Swaledale has received Great Taste® recognition for a wide range of products, all brought together here in the Great Taste® Collection. These include traditional favourites like dry-cured bacon, Yorkshire Breakfast Chipolatas and Lamb Merguez Sausages, as well as roasting joints and steaks.

From tender Fillet Steaks, ideal for quick pan-searing, to deeply flavoured Rump Steaks that come into their own cooked medium-rare or over fire, each cut offers something different. You’ll also find roasting joints such as Rolled Sirloin of Beef Roast, Loin of Pork Roast, Beef Rump Roast and Half Leg of Lamb, alongside products like Salt Beef, Lamb Ossobuco and Festive Game Cocktail Sausages.

The collection also includes products that have stood out over the years for their depth of flavour, character and versatility, reflecting the quality of the meat and the care taken in how it is reared, butchered and prepared.

Tuscan-Style Sausages are excellent on the barbecue, in a ragù or cooked with beans, whilst Jacob’s Ladder Beef Ribs are a favourite with the Swaledale team for their richness and deep beef flavour.

You’ll also find cuts that lend themselves to more considered cooking, such as Pork Shoulder Chop, Mutton Shoulder and Topside of Beef, all of which reflect the character of native breeds and traditional butchery.
